Swedish Massage Certification with Contraction Release Therapy (CRT)

Swedish massage is a classic therapeutic massage technique designed to relax the body, improve circulation, and ease muscular tension. Using long, flowing strokes, kneading, rhythmic movements, and gentle joint mobilization, Swedish massage promotes deep relaxation while supporting overall physical well-being. It is commonly used to reduce stress, relieve muscle soreness, enhance flexibility, and support the nervous system, making it both a restorative and therapeutic treatment suitable for a wide range of clients.

Expect therapeutic treatment sessions and training sessions that do not resemble any massage experience or training you have ever experienced before. Treatment sessions that resolve chronic pain in unique ways, utilizing massage techniques which often start at the heel with long sweeping strokes – taking hands up through the leg, thigh, hip, back, shoulders and neck without stopping. Treating your body as a whole organism, not separately, as so many various parts. Unique, holistic massage experiences for clients and massage training sessions for students.

Canada’s largest professional massage association, Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC) describes Aromatica’s Myomassology Massage training program as the “holistic version of massage therapy.” The reason is because students are trained to assess their client’s alignment issues and correct any misalignment at the source.

Aromatica has been recognized internationally for its contributions to the field of massage therapy and for pioneering Contraction Release Therapy (CRT®)—an innovative approach to treating back, neck, and shoulder pain. In 2000, Aromatica’s work was honoured with the prestigious “Myomassologist of the Year” award from the International Myomassethics Federation in Detroit in recognition of its advancements in massage therapy and holistic pain management.

Today, Contraction Release Therapy (CRT®) is a respected trademarked and copyrighted treatment methodology within the massage profession. Developed through years of clinical observation and experience, CRT is based on the understanding that many individuals experiencing chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain also present with Apparent Short Leg Syndrome. In these cases, the difference in leg length is not caused by unequal leg bones, but by tight, contracted muscles of the hip that elevate one side of the pelvis.

While conventional treatment often relies on custom shoe orthotics to compensate for this imbalance, the CRT approach focuses on identifying and addressing the muscular dysfunction responsible for the condition. By releasing tension within the hips and restoring muscular balance, the body can naturally return to proper alignment without relying solely on external supports.

CRT combines active and passive treatment techniques to trace pain throughout the body, isolate affected muscles, and place them into controlled, false contractions. Specialized friction techniques encourage the flow of oxygen-rich blood and lymphatic fluid deep into the muscles, helping to reduce tension, remove metabolic waste products such as lactic acid, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

Treatment follows a systematic assessment and corrective protocol designed to restore balance throughout the musculoskeletal system, promoting improved posture, movement, and overall function. This holistic methodology differs from many traditional massage approaches by focusing on correcting the underlying cause of pain rather than simply treating its symptoms.

Because the hips form the foundation of the spine, pelvic imbalance can contribute to spinal misalignment and compensatory postural changes. By restoring pelvic alignment and equalizing functional leg length, CRT aims to help the spine return to a more natural position, often resulting in improved mobility, reduced discomfort, and enhanced overall wellbeing.
